Are you sick and tired of receiving about a ton of '800 number' marketing, business or insurance calls all day long? Many times you come home tired from work and find your answering machine filled with these '800 number' calls and do not leave any voice messages behind.
And yes, the computer or the person who continues to give you calls does not understand the term 'time difference'. Thus, these calls continue to harass well into the night.
This makes you wonder how to block '800 numbers' from calling my home phone. These people or preprogrammed computers always call from a new number, making it impossible to block each call individually on your home phone or cell phone. There is one simple way that you can try to block these numbers from harassing you.

What are 800 Numbers?

The 800 numbers are toll-free numbers that many companies have to address issues of their customers. The toll-free numbers are referred to as '800 numbers' in North America. The 800 number is the area code like 888 that is in use since 1995. 877 and 866 are also in use in the United States.
Calls to these toll-free numbers are paid by the companies, so the caller, that is the customer does not have to pay money for these calls. The same companies do call the customers using the 800 numbers for mass marketing. Thus, sometimes different companies keep calling customers all day long trying to sell or market their services or products.

Block 800 Numbers from Calling My Home Phone

In order to block these telemarketing calls, one needs to register their home phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. This service is operated under the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007 became a law in February 2008.
Under this law, telephone numbers that are placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain so permanently. Thus, there are over 157 million phone numbers placed on this Registry. This gives Americans a choice about getting their numbers registered and blocking telemarketing calls disturbing them at home.
Under this act, you will no longer receive any unsolicited calls from telemarketing companies. However, you will receive calls from or on behalf of a charity organization, political organizations as well as telephone surveyors. You will also receive calls from companies with whom you have an existing business relationship.
They can call you for 18 months after you make a purchase with them. However, if you choose to place the company under do not call list, they have to respect your decision. But, how does one go about blocking the 800 numbers from their home phone? Let's find out.
